Yes, it sounds funny!
Jimmy, the Ivy Jesus...
;-)
He does talk over the top sometimes, no, most of the time...
Nevertheless, that's how I remember it.
I would link to the threads at AAAC if it wasn't so tedious.
Harris and A.Spuire, Manton, barf... They'd all talk about "trad". Not a single mention of IL.
Then our messiah came along!
;-)
Who you jiving with that cosmic debris?

Or think of ebay searches.
John Gall mentioned it in his review of the Fitzgerald shirt on the syllabus blog: You'd only find records from a 60s pop group.
You seem to like it here, if only for the Lulz, but you and me, we wouldn't be here without Jim's "trolling".
BTW, having mentioned JG, I remember you could find something about the Ivy Look back then, if you were searching for ivy and mod, there were a few posts on the clothing corner in the modculture forum.
Wearing a Keydge today just over a White T. with some old Levis. A great way to wear one which just wouldn't work with a proper jacket.
Only a PS - The earliest 'Ivy' clothes talk online I ever saw was John Gall & Mark Collins on Modculture. I got tipped off about them by a Moddy mate. That pre-dates 'Trad' by quite a while. I 'borrowed' many of their tricks adding a few twists of my own to annoy the uptight Yanks. Sexuality stuff especially.
Boppie, I think I'm building up to a post /rant here on this whole origins thing when I'm not so busy.
^That sounds like a threat.
Hmmm.
They manage to look both godawful and fantastic at the same time.
They don't photograph very well at all but look like a million dollars when worn.
Tons of things are 'off' with them when compared to classic sack jackets.
The construction does contain some serious tailoring.
I haven't seen a single serious contender to them and they rarely turn up second hand.
I walked through a beech hedge and crawled under a caravan in mine at the weekend to rescue a mauled pigeon. Try that in any other sports jacket.
I can only concur that the fit does benefit from a wash and even a spin in the dryer.
My last was an Olive Cord from Paul Simons for services rendered in the JS vintage room. It came through the post from Chiltern Street all folded up and I've never pressed the creases out, just added more creases to it as I've worn it.
Sloppy !
It's the jacket that isn't !
Is rescuing mauled pigeons a proper sport in UK or just a hobby or casual activity?
If you have a Keydge with the brown toy buttons, it's vitally important that you swap them for something decent, smoky genuine mother-of-pearl or something. It makes all the difference. Get a lapel buttonhole done too, by all means, but sort the buttons. Go through some online video tutorials if you don't know how to sew a button. It's possible even for the least of men to learn it, honestly, and it's worth it.
