Fishing ?

Any Fishing friends on here ?

I sat in with a new friend on the banks of the Avon yesterday and found it very agreeable. We caught nothing but smoked and drank a great deal. Then we went to the pub and told outrageous lies.

I think I shall take it up.

A quick Google has revealed that like most things it is riddled with snobbery so I'd like to stick to it being fun. The Scottish Salmon Boys seem especially snobby.

Any fishing tips welcomed with open arms. I'd especially like to hear from those who fish in canals and minor English rivers. Pond fishers welcome too.

I found it really peaceful.

Best -

Re: Fishing ?

Hi Mr Stitcher.

l am surprised to learn that fishing has been invaded by snobby types...what is the world coming to?

l used to go fishing a lot in the old days. Fished in rivers and fished in the ocean. Loved it because blokes could be blokes.

Fishing is peaceful, but l hate getting my line snagged (makes me snark). Nothing worse than setting up a line and it gets snagged, and then you spend 15 minutes setting another line and it gets snagged again.

Re: Fishing ?

The chaps who fish the Salmon rivers near me are definitely a clique. I wouldn't say they were snobs though.

Grouse Shoots are (predictably) where you should go if you want to see some real snobbery.

I shall have my rod in my hand this afternoon and I shall think of you all.
