^ So why are you and/or Liam still deleting my responses to Liam's juvenile posts on Talk Ivy? I read people and situations very well. I enjoy giving bullies a good kicking and that moron keeps coming back for more punishment.

My wife and I have been laughing at tonight's hysterical and puerile responses. She said that he and Liam, in her opinion as a top HR consultant, urgently need professional help to deal with their obvious "issues".

The JS pub is the Barley Mow. Mr. Kingstonian mentioned that it was to be turned into a Tesco Express soon I think. I've drunk quite a bit around Chiltern Street, but, having drunk quite a bit, can't really remember which pub was which & how good they were. I do remember the always agreeable face of Mr. Woofboxer though. Any recommendations for a new JS pub near the Chiltern Street shop ?

The trick with picking a JS pub is to somehow capture the JS ethos. Somehow the Barley Mow worked. I miss my voddys with The Guv'nor...

Mr. Kingstonian may well have the best local knowledge here. Any help, Kingy ?

I'd be glad to hear of any good pubs in the Chiltern St. area as I work around there.

There's plenty of pubs but so far none I've tried are much good.

I used to sit & have a slurp in the basement of JS... That was nice...

^ Immediate Chiltern Street area might be a bit too much. I usually travel a bit to find decent places

Was in Old Street last night the area has come up since I used to play darts there The Old Fountain was very good and doing good business for a Monday night.

No I do not play now but I turn up sometimes when the team has games - or even when they do not. Pub leagues were in decline anyway. We used to play in The Sportsman in The City Road which had excellent facilities and an electronic scoreboard so you did not need to do the arithmetic. That was pulled down and we moved on to various home venues. After I stopped playing they were based in The Pakenham Arms near Mount Pleasant but the pub decided it wanted to move upmarket and darts was no longer possible. That happened in lots of pubs. The Fountain still has a board but there were tables and chairs in the way. So an impromptu game was not possible. Work changed. People are often not in jobs long enough to build up the social side. When I go into the office now I am lucky to find someone to go to lunch with. After work drinks have to be arranged in advance and mostly with people who are no longer employed. Lunch time drinking is almost a criminal offence nowadays.
