Read it and Weep Trads!

Word on the street (from a reliable authority) is that J. Press is going 2 button and forward pleated trousers for some of their suits!

I really dislike pleated suit trousers.

Re: Read it and Weep Trads!

My source tells me that plain front pants will soon be available.  These 2 button darted jackets are part of a new suit separates program.  My presumption is that this program is designed to take advantage of those who mistakenly think they are walking into Mens Wearhouse or Banks or something. Sell them something before they realize they have walked into the wrong door.

Re: Read it and Weep Trads!

I honestly don't mind two buttons nor forward pleats on suitpants.

What I really dislike are darts, and I doubt these will be that subtle.

Oh well.

Hopefully they continue to sell the 3-2 plains.

Re: Read it and Weep Trads!

If they keep the shoulders nice & natural it might be a little JFK-ish?

I'll need to see one first...

...I'll still join Brother Cools with a '3 to 2/plain-front' tho'.

H ol Chum,

Your premonition was correct.  There is a disturbance in the trad Force.  Darts and pleats are to be understood.  But at the risk of sounding like my ol chum, must we suffer through black cordouroy sportcoats?  I would rather that misterman adopt a VAN or TAKE IVY approach to freshening the brand.

Re: Read it and Weep Trads!

for those who care. Apparently JPress is selling out the warehouse where past years suits and jackets and god knows what else were stored. the 50% sale goes on until everything is sold and when that is sold more stuff will be brought in from the warehouse.

Re: Read it and Weep Trads!

I don't know. From the oics NYC was going for the empty, open space look that BB thought was modern in the early 1990s. I can say that this is what I heard in New Haven, the manager said that since the half price slae began he had sold only one suit. The selection the last time I looked was extensive in the 44l size. winter and summer weight suits. The manager siad what i said. they are getting rid of the old inventory which apparently was stored in a warehouse (I never heard oif JPress clothings ever being offered in a discount store). they will keep offering old stock until it is gone, empty. on select racks. Incredibly, basic tailoring is included, at least it has been in New Haven. Don't know about NYC. if they aren't offering anything but current fashions in the big city, I urge you to go to the provinces. Just ask for what is on sale. Bought the most beautiful Harris tweed jacket I will ever hope to own a month ago at half price. 2002 catalogue. they don't make em like that, and given the direction, they never will.
