'Thinking'' is of little value if decision makers are already bought and paid for.
OJ again in the same shirt. Looks like he has not been shaving long. Keiser wears dark pinstripes - ex Wall Street and an interesting alternative view.

Formby, I always knew you were pompous but I did not realise how naive you were.

Well, I have to say I've always struggled with writing covering letters for jobs ,, esp speculative ones, how do you start the damn thing?
I would like to enquire about a possible job in ? hmm.,
I believe their has always been a large section of the working class who are, how can I put it without offending, thick. I can't help but feel that losing the traditional work places of the unskilled ie, factory work, coupled with Benefit culture, and yes, mass migration of unskilled workers from Eastern Europe (I'm not scared to say it) has produced a much more visible and larger group of poverty struck society. I thought OJ raised some valid and interesting points in the book, I didn't agree with everything he said, but, I would never use the term chav to describe a person any more than I would "Person of Pakistani heritage" after reading the book.

^They were halcyon days. They were also the last hurrah of the Nation State as an economic consideration. The game was rigged but there was trickle down to the fellow countrymen of the riggers. There was still some patriotism. Greed was not the sole driver.
In an earlier century Cecil Rhodes said:-
"I contend that we are the finest race in the world and that the more of the world we inhabit the better it is for the human race. Just fancy those parts that are at present inhabited by the most despicable specimens of human beings what an alteration there would be if they were brought under Anglo-Saxon influence, look again at the extra employment a new country added to our dominions gives."
In other words never give a foreigner an even break. Nowadays 'the most despicable specimens' profit at the expense of our own.
And the expense of their own. Haven't the most despicable specimens always been at the top of any society, where ever in the world that is? Isn't that why we get to vote and have unions? And aren't the people at the top of governments and unions quite often than not despicable, dishonest people? I'm sure there were lots of Anglo-Saxon kids working in cotton mills and coal mines that wouldn't have agreed with Rhodes, not to mention their parents living in the slums of scumbag factory owners and landlords. If of course, they could read.
Voting does not change anything. Union power has been eroded(partly as a consequence of unemployment).
Yes, there have always been crooks and self serving types in high places.
However, I believe there is more greed, corruption and careerism than there used to be.
Where are the conviction politicians these days? The paternalistic employers(Quaker confectionery makers, non conformists who built towns for their employees etc.)? The sense of noblesse oblige? All completely gone.
The best of England, sorry Jimmy, emigrated to 'The Colonies' in the 1950s to early 70s alas bringing all their petty prejudices and class warfare with them. They soon got the message when it was pointed out that they hadn't been colonies since 1931 and no-one owes you a living. The British attitude tiwatrds colonials was certainly alive and well in the 1980s in the art cicrcles. Me, I couldn't care about class attitudes when one can afford to buy fresh Beluga caviar.

Do any of you understand what makes stupid, ignorant and culturally barren people tick?
I interact with a few and I am constantly astounded by their fear of anyone with knowledge. I used a word I suppose one of them found too fancy and he continually repeated it at me as if it were an invented word even though it is a well established one. Also, if you speak a language they are impressed but if they think you're studying one, they write it off on the premise that anyone can do that.
I thought I could handle most people but I have a hard time identifying with righteously coarse morons. Does anyone have any insight?
