Re: Awesome Post of the Day

This Gentleman is new to AAAT, yet he has the AAAT Trad look down perfectly:

Nice support for him from the online community too. I'm hoping he'll enter Mr. Wang's Summer competition just to keep the quality content up.

Here's to more new & enthusiastic posters on AAAT. Yeah, we lost Topbroker over there, but we now have marmer to take his place. Not a like for like swap I'll grant you, but I think you'll find that marmer will find himself more at home on the forum than Topbroker did. Just a hunch I have.

Roll on Mr. Wang's competition!

(I'm off to re-read Bulldog's blog)

Re: Awesome Post of the Day

Total coincidence I'm sure, but I'm very happy to see that Marmer has entered Kent Wang's Summer Trad competition.
Being new Mr. Marmer may not have found FNB yet, but if he has - Hi!
Keep on keeping on & show them some style over there.
Best -

Jim

Looking at the entries so far (up to post #12 at the time of writing) I'd put Marmer in the lead.
JordanW is more or less wearing Ivy League although the jokey tie is a nice Preppy/Trad touch.
My mate Brian (VWGuy) has got a problematic break on his Reds there - It's that ratio between trouser bottom width & length which is so hard to get right. And maybe the rise on the Reds is a little low too? Are they LE? A great Preppy look though apart from that.
Marmer employs various trouser breaks and trouser bottom finishes - all of which work to my eye - the long cuffed break, the uncuffed no-break. He seems most Trad too rather than Ivy or Preppy.
Let's keep an eye on this one. Where's The Squire?

Re: Awesome Post of the Day

Kingy - You come from the same direction that I do in fact. The thing is that that AAAT doesn't.
Probably it's just a frame of reference thing. Does AAAT even have Harry Enfield on their radar?
Dunno.
But I really do think that Mr. Marmer really sums up where 'Trad' is at right now on AAAT.

This is the world in which we live.

Sta-Prest mean nothing to AAAT. They're 'Trads' & we're not. But what we can do is to say that when Trads do their thing well (on their terms) that we can recognise it.

- And so I'm supporting Mr. Marmer. He's read the AAAT forum, he knows the look, he does it well.

Not Ivy, not Preppy, not WASP, not NeoPrep - This is AAAT Trad.

Best,

Jim

Re: Awesome Post of the Day

My guy even has an argyle jumper - sorry sweater.

You can certainly support Mr. Marmer but that need not mean liking all his choices. I am not sure of the place of caps in the AAAT trad thing. A pork pie hat would do the trick better for an American look.
