Hello everyone, first post here. I'm young (19), but I want to do fashion as a career. Just thought I'd give my $0.02.
I don't think ANY colour or shade should be ruled out from being worn or have a stigma. After all, it is just that, a colour/shade. Black is a very common colour for suits and that makes it seem 'amateur' to some, or 'taking the easy way out'. But like any other colour or shade, black can look beautiful on a suit, as has been shown by a previous photo.
If a black suit bothers you, I can't imagine what you'd think of people wearing sweat pants, cheap jeans, or discount suits that don't fit them properly. Black suits are not something to be bothered about, unless you've got your head stuck somewhere below your waistline. Besides, most of the time they still fit fine and are complimented with a shirt/tie combo thats acceptable.
Recently, I went to a special night for work, the managers and big wigs of the business, about 80% of them were wearing solid black suits. This business is Telstra, the largest telecommunications company in Australia.
