All this talk of playing roles. Saying you are a writer of books, vintage clothing dealer, ivy consultant, being on duty as Russell, an actor online and sometimes in real life. So Mr Topstitcher, what can you say about someone who spends such large amounts of their time pretending to be someone else? It hardly speaks of contentment, a life of any substance and being happy in your own skin.
Give me a break Sammy, he hasn't even had his bell end doctored.
But are there significant, recognisable, tribal youth cultures today? I'm not so sure.
Skateboarders. Emos. Music scenes are too big (house, drum n bass, hip hop) to have an actual subcultutre following, although there are those in these scenes that seem to follow a loose code, BAPE, Supreme, Visvim and so on. Brand culture more than anything here. From where I'm sitting the high street does pretty well from clothing the disenfranchised youth.
If the ones you mention were proper youth cults Charlie you wouldn't want to go into the High St because there would big gangs of them hanging around, but there aren't.
