I agree with the overall sentiment. If there is to be a "suit renaissance" that so many on these forae cry for it's going to be led by the slim fitting suit since it will appeal to a younger set that normally wouldnt consider wearing one. I find it amusing that you'll read old codgers on these forums whining about how the suit is dying and when younger guys wear slimmer more fashion forward suitings, they get criticized as looking silly, too trendy, whatever. There's plenty of us that dont want a "size 38 suit" that fits more like a size 42.
I agree with what you are saying except for the last sentence. I don't know why a size 42 wouldn't want a suit that flattered his body. I know that I have a 43 or so inch chst and like to sear my clothes pretty close, especially around the waist. Most people just wear teir suits too big and they have been doing so for years.
Matt, sorry I meant that as a size 38, oftentimes suits that are sold as "38" fit better as a larger size, like a 40 or sometimes even a 42. Of course someone who is a size 42 will want something that fits snug and well, but not a jacket that has a 46+" chest diameter (for a 42)......and oftentimes if the chest fits fine, the body/stomach area is way too big. Your jackets all fit you perfectly so I know you know what I mean.

Get Smart, how much allowance is there around the chest and waist in a Thick as Thieves suit? Your stuff seems pretty slim but I don't know what that means in measurement terms.
I agree that it's odd that some people seem to prefer the status quo over a Return of the Suit but not on their terms.
depending on the size, it's generally a 2" chest allowance and usually a 4-5" stomach allowance based on wearer's measurement in that area (and depending on wearer's preference of 'tightness')
