All our UK members with access to Food Network UK channel, there is an amazing 70's throwback being repeated right up 'til Christmas...
'Fanny Craddock Cooks Christmas'
Worth watching in the knowledge that 'health and safety' should prevent you from ever having to eat anything any of her recipes.
Having seen some of Fannys work before I suggest we reconvene at the NSFW..scary looking woman
The Benny Hill copy is pretty close to reality. Johnny was fond of the sauce.
/\ I was looking briefly at part 2 of this before when I was looking for the Benny Hill ... she starts into some stuff about choux pastry ... but I hopefully you'll find the Benny Hill bit ... I do love that show ... really primitive, good stuff ..... you may remember Dan Ackroyd as Julia Child and Phil Hartman as Gene the Anal Retentive Chef and Alec Baldwin as Pete Schweddy ... I hope you know these SNL sketches, they were classic for us .....

here you go Stan
Nice find AC, spent ages on youTube but couldn't find it.
Stan, all those SNL sketches are great stuff. Phil Hartman is a particular hero of mine (NewsRadio was an absolute diamond of a show).

Thanks for the Benny Hill post, it's hilarious. Benny Hill is one of my guilty pleasures. I liked his show with all those crazy chases which always resulted in some bird losing her clothes. Didn't know he also made sketches where he actually spoke. Or I forgot about that.
One thing which I always found very funny was the way he did a military salute - the palm of the hand outwards and touching the forehead flat. Years later I found out that in the UK, this seems to be way soldiers salute.
Benny Hill; Tommy Cooper; Dave Allen; Morecambe and Wise; The Galloping Gourmet; Fanny and Johnnie; Watch with Mother; The Magic Roundabout; Robert Dougall; Michael Aspel; Michael Bentine ... the golden age of British telly entertainment - unlike the current sewer.
