I'm not convinced it's really news. Good looks have always had wide-ranging social and economic effects, such as (these days) higher pay and faster promotion, so it seems natural that perceptions of students--including attractiveness--would also play into grades. This has been a focus of anthropological study for some time.
Just another reason I thank God we're blind-graded. . . .
