Good on yer mate! Regards to Edna and Les.
Are we ahead of you in time?
Bam. Saw the Sydney fireworks on TV, fantastic as always. How does it stack up in Melbourne?
Better. Always. More sophisticated, subtle, nuanced and tasteful. If one can say that about fireworks.
Sydney isn't Australia despite what media says.
Happy new year ... & ive started off the new year as I mean to go on ... by getting fucking angry, in this case at having the old lady insist on watching that dumb fucker garry barlow on the beeb do some shit songs, god I hate that sanctimonious prat, tax dodging & then collects a gong from queeny & promotes himself as a british institution. WHat a HOHO./

I dont know I thought mel c's attempt at 'I Wish' was probably the best thing on there. Ray Davies seemed to be held together by duct tape oh and Charlie Wilson was ok but mainly cause we got to hear the horn section come to life.
Happy New Year. Took my Chinese girlfriend to Paddy Reilly's and taught her how to sing the chorus of Come Out Ye Black and Tans so she could sing along. She even animated it with a doubled up fist. The hit of the night.
Happy New Year.
Man it was cold here in NYC. We need to start the New year in June.
Happy New year. Pretty hot today in Sydney but cooling off now. Fireworks were pretty awesome if you are not (as I am) sick and tired of it every year.
If you ever want to see a nation collectively lose their marbles and turn into hooligans for 24hrs, one should go to the Netherlands for New Year's Eve, here is the current score board:
1. 8,400 recorded criminal incidents
2. 108 attacks on emergency workers
3. 100 rioting youths arrested in the village of Veen
4. 1 dead when his armoury of fireworks blew-up
5. 46 people with eye injuries from fireworks, many blinded
6. "Several" people have lost hands due to firework accidents
7. 70 people arrested in Rotterdam for arson
8. Fire brigade called out in Rotterdam 1,277 times with 45 buildings set ablaze and 19 cars
9. Firemen pelted with fireworks as they tackled fires
10. In the Hague, 69 cars were destroyed in deliberate fires
11. 89 arrests in Utrecht as firemen came under attack
12. 30 arrests in Enschede as police came under attack with fireworks
13. 79 people arrested for arson and attacking emergency service workers
They haven't tallied up the score in Amsterdam yet! Should be a good one though.
It will be the usual round of slaps on the wrists and 20 hours community service for the perpetrators. I kid you not.
I had a pal who was a regular in the Railway Tavern.
South East Londoners are strangely loyal to their quarter. I occasionally end up visiting them on their own patch, though I do not like to make a habit of it.
One year I remember a wine tasting in Greenwich, at Davy's, after which we crossed the common by way of the Hare & Billet and ended up in The Railway. Happy Days.
You might not say it has a common but :-
''Blackheath contains one of the largest areas of common land in Greater London''
