^ In the inimitable words of Mark Steyn, "What other religion begins with 'I' and ends with 'slam'?"
I noticed him too, he was most definitely, a non-participant observer!
But who for?
I see the holocaust deniers and new world zionist conspiracy nuts are out in force again today:

Even the sloppy journalist manages to describe Europe being frees from the Nazis as the "liberation" of Europe, as if it's liberation is open to debate and perhaps the tyranny of the Nazis was a good thing, which according to many of the commentators was mostly benign.
As Noel Coward BRILLIANTLY put it:

Having said that, what 's the point in showing this film NOW? The mega-series on WWII, narrated by Olivier, covered all the ground.

Furthermore, I have interacted professionally and/or socially with large numbers of Muslims, Christians (Protestant, Catholic and other), Sikhs, Hindus, Rastas, Jews, and occasional Buddhists and those who practise Santería. All without exception are a mixed bunch, including lots of decent people.
Most of these religious conflicts are actually the direct or indirect result of foreign policy, and ultimately boil down to someone making money from the whole thing. Invoking religion is a way for each side to gain public support.
On saying that, of course I believe anyone of any or no religion needs to be held to the law of the land (excluding laws that are designed to combat democracy). Making exceptions to this in the name of religious tolerance benefits no one. Nor do I believe in unlimited immigration - a policy more in keeping with the 'market rules in all areas' ethos, where the workforce are treated by the powers that be with complete contempt, to be dragged around the world to do casual underpaid work then discarded when someone more desperate is available.
Exactly, woofboxer! It's not the body count that makes the holocaust unique in history. There is no other holocaust.
@ NJS - I don't think it's erroneous to describe as unique a system for collecting people from all over a continent, transporting them to purpose built industrial killing facilities with their own railway lines, places that were akin to abbattoirs. It is uniquely fiendish, horrible and unparallelled in modern history, and all carried out a couple of generations ago in a country that was previously amongst the most developed and civilised in the world.
It is erroneous to say that it was solely perpetrated against one racial group. Although jews were the primary targets, gypsies, homosexuals and people with various disabilities were also scooped up and bumped off, plus anyone who spoke out of turn.
