Lapel Alterations....possible or impossible?

I've got this very nice nailhead jacket that fits me perfectly.  It's not superlux bespoke quality or anything, just a nice jacket that i can move and sweat in on a daily basis.  Problem is, i like very narrow 50s/60s style lapels, and the lapels on this particular jacket are a bit too wide for my taste.  There is no buttonaire on the lapel.  Can a tailor slim these down?  how is it done?

Re: Lapel Alterations....possible or impossible?

It could be done.  It would also involve recutting the collar (at least on either side), so the notch doesn't look to "off".

It would involve removing the facing and trimming it down.  Trimming down the edges of the coat front and trimming the collar sides and the felt behind it.  As long as you don't want to actually move the placement of the notch it wouldn't be too hard to have this done.
