Re: Wallabees

Strange, Yuca, as they're supposed to be "healthy" shoes. Never thought that they might cause harm.

I don't think they have to be "streamlined", though, whatever that means. The frumpiness with those chunky soles is part of their charm.

They used to come in suede, leather and cord in earth shades, I think in the 90s they were still made in Ireland, Padmore & Barnes IIRC.

I'm not sure if the trad gent, early 70s NYC, from HTJ's blog is wearing Wallabees. There were lots of similar American mocassins around. Also a German company, Sioux, would offer similar lace-up mocs. A model named Grasshoppers had been reintroduced recently.

Wallabees. Ilove 'em.
Been wearing mine a lot when its not tipping down with rain. USA Levis 501s, white OCBD and navy crew neck.
Pretty standard fare but it's a look I like.

Re: Wallabees

I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to Wallabees.
The fact that Clarks needs to do collaborations with rappers (M.F.Doom / other brands (Fila, Supreme) leaves me cold.
I don't like gimmicks.
Just give me a low or hi standard issue sand suede wally and I'm set.

M.F.Doom is quality though.

Re: Wallabees

Had a leather pair - 'The Natalie' - very nice, but they had to go as they were never going to fit into my already over subscribed shoe rotation. Can generally pick them up quite cheap in Blunts - bought Mrs Power a couple of pairs for around a tenner each - however they're probably gathering dust/getting damp in the cellar as we speak. Think they've still got some in Shoepurmarket in Worcs - if anybody with particularly small feet is interested, I could pop in and check on availability.

Re: Wallabees

Yep, best thing for me about Wallies these days is Breaking Bad & MF Doom I'm afraid....

I do have a low cut pair from about 10 years ago which I keep meaning to revisit but never do...have gone right off Playboys too.... thinking I must be an anti-suedite?!?!?

Am sure i'll return to em at some point mind...

Re: Wallabees

For anyone near a Clarks Outlet Store, they are Wallabees in stock in various sizes (ebony and sand at the Wembley store) for £37.
Mainline Menswear usually have discounted Wallabees for online shoppers, stocks can be erratic but worth checking occasionally.

They only have the Wallabee Ridge boot in the sale at the moment, but they seem to be a clearing house for Clarks Originals stock so worth keeping an eye on.

I'm with you on that point Stan. I have a pair of Countrys from the mid 90s still going strong. (I had heavy sneaker rotation back then).
