Wet weather gear

Share with us what you wear in this utterly shit weather we're currently having in the UK or anywhere else for that matter.  Or what you'd  like to get hold off. I fancy a tincloth jacket of some kind. What are you looking to acquire?

Re: Wet weather gear

Still havent got a Woolrich 60/40 which is a shame as it was on the list this winter.
I know a lot of you hate them but my Bean Boots (rubber mocs) have been invaluable.

Re: Wet weather gear

No fekker wears anything longer than a sports jacket these days. Pea coat , Barbour "shortie" raincoats,  etc.

I still wear proper coats - below the knee Crombies and trench coat, or Aquascutum raincoat, British Warm  on the knee.

A Drizabone would do the trick - but it looks like overkill on the Waterloo & City line, except for the one day you can legally herd sheep across London Bridge.

Re: Wet weather gear

Casual:
M65 jacket with liner in.
Peacoat.

Smarter days:
Grenfell or Aquascutum raincoat.
Vintage camel coloured overcoat.

Looking out for a single breasted crombie type coat.

Have a Sierra Designs 60/40 mountain parka on the way for springtime layering.

I  currently wear one of these Mackintosh macs but the romance has quickly died off due to the fact it's as comfortable as wearing a sandwich bag

Re: Wet weather gear

Snorkel and flippers if this weather keeps up big_smile

My Guy Cotton has served me well recently against the wet but isn't exactly warm so I'm looking for a 60/40 style with a removable liner -
Penfield are a likely candidate now that the labels have got smaller and are removable without leaving a big 'scar'
or
Elka but finding anywhere that stocks the regular range (and not the Norse Projects collaborations) is proving surprisingly difficult.

Re: Wet weather gear

Any one of my three long rain coats (two London Fog, and one Koratron) if I'm dressed more up, and if I'm dressed more down, then I usually just throw on a Drizzler or a short London Fog jacket.  I don't currently have anything rubbery that would serve me well if I got stuck out in a torrential downpour.  If rain is imminent, I just wear some beater leather shoes like my old Weejuns or Bostonian derbys.  Umbrellas come in handy too.

Re: Wet weather gear

There are some items of clothing very precious to me and usually they are not the most expensive, case in point, my Rainman city raincoat by Four Seasons bought about twelve years ago. I have never seen this style again very late 50's early 60's look to it, it makes me happy to go out in the rain, which in this country (UK) it does allot.

^Great shots Tom. That's the only type of Barbour I would concider wearing myself.

60/40 or a rain mac for me, depending on the occasion, if it's just drizzling out there. An Elka type of slicker when it's pissing down properly.
