Re: Wet weather gear

I've had mine about 4 years and the more worn in it gets the more I like it. Not much need for repair a few small holes near the Hem but nothing major.

Re: Wet weather gear

Give Barbour their due - they do an excellent job repair wise.. they come back as new...

With all this heritage crap sprouting everywhere mind, you'd think they could just bring out a replica of these again without any patches...but they're all at it now sadly..splashing their name up...

Re: Wet weather gear

The patch blends in after a few waxings and a couple of years. Mine is black and faded from all the wax and wear - I can't even notice it.

One troublesome thing is that most of the Internationals sold in the US are not made in England. Barbour is doing overseas manufacturing and they are being sneaky about it. It's almost imposible to find the country of origin tag - sometimes its in the form of a glued in sticker or a tag hidden in one of the pockets.

Re: Wet weather gear

What's good at the moment in anorakville? Hooded, waterproof, simple design.  Always wanted an Albam fisherman's cagoule, never been able to track one down.  Also regret not getting a Sierra 60/40 when those reissues were about.  Have a lined 60/40 but need something unlined for warmer weather.

Re: Wet weather gear

I have 2 Barbour jackets in varying states of disrepair for casual wear that get me through. One is full of holes and should have been repaired or disposed of years ago, but I practically lived in it as a graduate student, and I can't seem to let it out of my sight.

I have a classic mack from Mackintosh Ireland, and it's just dreamy. I most often wear it to work, but it comes out on weekends, from time to time. I've linked it, because I really love that jacket so much.
