Re: BESPOKE VINTAGE TIES NAPLES

Martha Passaggio is the part that intrigues me.  Gianni claims to be from a tailoring family, despite the fact that the work is all shopped out.  Martha was a floral designer and luxury event planner, which reads as opportunistic social climber in my book.  Anyone know more of their history or arrangement?

This is interesting perspective too:

".....active in the world of print media and communication for three generations."

So the ink-jet print, is likely the same dye in newspapers, or flyers for the local takeaway. A good way to branch out, now that most magazines and newspapers have eschewed the printed media, for an online website.

Generous as in they are large, or generous in that they produce more milk when lactating?

Re: BESPOKE VINTAGE TIES NAPLES

Image search on Martha Passaggio comes up dry.  I assume that she'd be the face of the company were she reasonably attractive.  That Gianni was chosen instead says something.

The dressedwell.net kooks can't get enough of this fiasco.  They're even betting on how it will end.

Re: BESPOKE VINTAGE TIES NAPLES

I'm not offended by the concept of an 'ugly' tie under a beautifully cut suit. I think it can create an interesting discord.

It depends on how you define ugly however.

Re: BESPOKE VINTAGE TIES NAPLES

I have a number of garrish ties that in the right circumstances can give a powerful presence and effect. But here it is not so much the actual ties, but the false provenance and extortionate prices for end-of-the-line/overstock/non-vintage/knock-off/stolen from other brands (allegedly)  not to mention taking advantage of the iGent and travelling maestro world and bringing it into disrepute. Some might say, that Gianni is only guilty of being caught, but has he been caught, is Gianni (Versace) Cerutti (Tessuti) a nome de plume or an alias?

All very interesting and I do hope that Gianni and Martha can shed light on this whole affair as I am itching to get myself half-a-dozen bespoke ties at €205 a pop.

Re: BESPOKE VINTAGE TIES NAPLES

In my limited exposure to international event planners is that they are all babes of the marketing graduate variety, with inflated egos and a sense of entitlement that is justified by the inflated fees they charge and are gladly paid. Some management consultancies use the same principal of bringing in a babe and tactically delivering them to the door of those they know will be bedazzled by the trinkets of such beauty. But flower arrangers are a different breed, many amateurs are WI members and the professionals often have an earthy quality akin to garden gnomes. So where the partner fits onto this spectrum is intriguing to say the least.

I actually do think it is more than a storm in a teacup, as the democraphic targetted by Gianni, including the travelling maestro circuit, places great if not ultimate value on authenticity, scarcity, uniqueness, antiquity and craftsmanship. Where Gianni has allegedly strayed from the truth, are the areas that are most prized in his market and he will lose all respect and his turning up at a trunk show will be greeted like the class clown.
