Well I have found the solution at reasonable prices. By chance I found an asian tailoring firm who make great made to measure shirts to order. I was doubtful at first but as they first send a sample of the minimum order of three I thought I had little to loose..
Measurements required need to be accurate (preferably taken with help from old well fitting shirt) and I needed to amend my hip size and I ordered the shirts a bit too long.
The sample arrived quite quickly and was made well with placket front and single vent at rear. The tabs were a little too long and connected by retro button. The collar was too stiff for me too.
But alll this was attended too with remaining order and I was delighted with results. In a future order they gave me another shirt free and communication via UK was swift & efficient.
Their cloth samples are extensive. My personal preference was their fine stripes , white, light blue Oxford and end of end light blue.
In respect of pin collars I mentioned above sadly they dont have yet facilities to machine stitch around the small collar holes. So I ordered their great straight collar shirts and found a local alteration tailor here to make the holes correctly for me. The pins used was from my old 60s shirts and some US retro ones from, guess it, ebay.com
Of course you dont need pins if you choose clips which I like too occasionally. We have a lot to thank the Duke of Windsor for who was well ahead of his time.
Anyone interested make contact and I will direct you to their comprehensive site.
