Re: First Impressions/Paul Davies Bespoke Shoes

They are killer shoes. They look real comfy and they really look like a pair of bespoke shoes.  Mine are definately overshadowed by yours.  What colour are they?

Lord Grayson, you are the real Shooman and l am your apprentice. May you supremely enjoy them for the rest of your life.

Re: First Impressions/Paul Davies Bespoke Shoes

Very nice.

How do Mr. Davies' prices compare with those of other bespoke makers?

Too bad you can't be more specific, but it's understandable.

I was able to find Paul Davies' website:

Of course, Ernest shouldn't try John Lobb London for his first pair of bespoke shoes.

Beautiful shoes Marc! How long is the turnaround time with Davies?

Thanks,

Re: First Impressions/Paul Davies Bespoke Shoes

According to Aubercy's website, their bespoke process involves a trial pair that the customer then wears every day for a month. The last is adjusted and the final pair made. This seems like a sensible route to gaining long-term customers who may be buying large numbers of shoes.

Of course, Aubercy hurt Ernest's feet. Quelle domage.

Yes, Cleverley estimated it would be 10-12 months before I received my shoes. I'm just wondering if PD is any faster?

From looking at all your shoes and clothing, you appear to be the master in understatement. That's a very admirable clothing trait.

Re: First Impressions/Paul Davies Bespoke Shoes

l appreciate both understatement and Dandy (me being abit of the later and some of the former...l have a variety of styles. l don't have a signiture style). l just fully appreciate the fact that a bloke can wear and spend a fortune on such incredible understated clothes and draw less compliments than what a dandy would. lmpressing others is not an issue with an understated dressing style, it is about impressing yourself, which indicates a true clothing connoiseur and love of clothes. Eg, with a dandy, they wear clothes to impress others and because they love them. But with understated clothing, it is truely/solely because the wearer loves clothes and doesn't care about compliments.

l could wear both your suits and FNB's. l wouldn't wear button down shirts though, we don't wear buttondowns in Australia. smile

Re: First Impressions/Paul Davies Bespoke Shoes

I agree with Marc. You don't need several pairs to get the right fit. Only 1 pair should suffice. True, more often than not, the lastmaker can improve the fit of a second pair based on the customer's feedback after wearing the first pair for some time. Very often neither the customer nor the lastmaker notice small deviations from the ideal fit during a 10-minute fitting; rather, these may surface later on after extended use. That being said, the lastmaker can apply the lessons learned to relast the 1st pair at any time. Good makers do this for free.

Anyone other than Grayson used Davies? He is so close to me here now I am am tempted to give him a try. Everything I have seen so far from him has a huge toe box though, curious to any other info.
