I think that looks really good. It's a good fit. I don't get too hung up on whether or not the piece has saddle shoulders.
You could never carry a saddle around like that where I live - too costumey.
Best shetland I have is this one by Jameisons .. Great saddle shoulder and neck with just right amount/size of ribbing at neck, cuffs and waist.
Its more modern looking than other scottish brands Ive tried.

I have a couple of these- brushed and non-brushed. I would also size up (despite what oi polloi say) otherwise they come up a bit short.
If it gets too baggy you can wash at 60 and it drops a size.
Shrink to fit jumpers?
Shrink to fit jumpers? Be careful what you wish for - I remember when I first got married, wy wife washed a rather expensive (for the time) jumper of mine at what must have been around 300 degrees - it ended up looking like it would have fitted a 9 month old baby and had the consistency of a donkey jacket .....
What is the consensus on O'Connell's fit suggestions? Is a 38 comparable to a Small from Brooks Brothers.
Boiling hot on the west coast of Wales today - no sign of Shetland weather any time soon, which is a shame as I want to wear my new deadstock one. On the plus side, my corn and tomatoes are ripening nicely.......
Hello, long time reader first time listener and all that.
I visited Edinburgh a few weeks ago and for all the different knitwear shops, I couldn't find a decent shetland. The Harleys in Dicks didn't quite cut it.
Last week I was killing some time in a London department store and found a rack of Howlin' By Morrison brushed shetlands. I didn't have time to try one on but they looked a satisfactory fit and thickness. Does anyone here own a Howlin' shetland and attest to the quality? Going on the name, what I found was a more brushed version of this: http://www.morrison.be/clothes/brands/howlin/howlin-aw14-birth-of-the-cool-moss-6260.html
I appreciate it Oliver! I am leaning towards sizing up based on what I read around the 'net.
Thanks Oliver! I just placed my order. I went with Charcoal in case anyone is wondering.
Glad to help!
The moss green color is really lovely btw. We're in the middle of an Indian summer here in the Bay Area and there's a scorching heatwave burning through Southern California, but I'm really looking forward to wearing it in another month over a pale pink button down with a brown tweed sportcoat, cords and moleskins. I've put at least 10 of these shetlands on my wishlist. I think I'll treat myself to a new one every 6 months or so... they're fantastic, I'm sure you'll dig it a lot!
Oliver, you were spot on! I ordered a 38 and it is a true small in my opinion. Thanks again for the help.
