Re: Shetlands

Yep - got a couple of Harley's. Great saddle shoulder, really traditional look, some nice colours. My advice is to size down - if you're a medium, go for the small.

Re: Shetlands

I've got the Wagtail - it's great - very light grey with slight heathering, good with dark denim. I've also got an Oatmeal one (not sure if it's actually called that) which is very nice.

Re: Shetlands

So -  I had a lunge into the Highland Store last night down by the British Museum…

First impression was MAN ALIVE…they busy……

But then I realized they woz ALL STAFF?!?!?

HUH?

Anyhoo – I proceeded to try on a few kilts initially…until I was told in a tone that quite frankly I found EXTREMELY unsatisfactory…. That could I PLEASE try them on in the changing room and not in the middle of the shop floor….AND FURTHER….could I put my grunties back on when I was doing so?!?!?!?

I beg your pardon….says I?!?

I need thee authentic cut and feel upon my tallywacker…. before I buy?!?

Anyhoo – it’s not like me to cause a fuss…so I said if I’m gonna try stuff on in there I may as well take a few bits….

Have you got any of yer Harley Shetlands pur-lease?

No – I’m afraid we don’t do ‘em any more….

It was at this point Dear Forumite…that I dropped EVERYTHING…including the kilt…and told them in no uncertain terms….

You’ve let me down

You’ve let yourself down

And more importantly….you’ve LET TALK IVY DOWN…..

We then proceeded to re-enact the wrestling scene from Women in Love…..

Suffice to say I had the gobshite in a Super sole Headlock whilst I fought thee other 47 members of staff of with anything I could find…. Walking cane…Blankets… Picnic Hampers etc.

3 hours later both The Highland Store & The F.B.I. agreed to press no charges.. but suffice to say…I’m now BANNED from said establishment so I’ll no longer be able to help you all out here on the Harley David Son of a Bitch front…

Have a Nice day

He came he saw he gave the WANKER SIGN! Moved on from Talk Bollocks now as it's well shite innit and y'all look MINGIN'..

Re: Shetlands

Nice. Which is your favourite?

The SWC is a shaggy and the others are not?

Re: Shetlands

What's the dillio this season? I want some OC's, but at that price + shipping I will have to start with political corruption, human trafficking and dope dealing, and that's not what I really wanna to. Atleast at the moment. So, which brand should I be keeping an eye out for? Jamieson's looked rather nice, they had some on Endclothing, but they did look a bit on the shorter side + no saddle shoulder (or was I imagining it?)

Re: Shetlands

^ Shetland = knitwear manufactured on the Shetland Islands / wool produced from Shetland sheep.

There's no such thing as a "take" on a Shetland. That's just a boiled wool crew sweater with a bit of an identity crisis going by the description -- how does a "chunky wool knit" feel "light and airy"?

Re: Shetlands

Quite right of course Oli! Although they look pretty good for the money. Uniqlo stuff is hit and miss, some of it is pretty grim but other times they come up with stuff that is great for someone who is aiming to get the look but is on a tight budget.

Re: Shetlands

I wouldnt recommend them...i know theyre cheap but you can still get cheap real shetlands if you have a look about...the problem with those is they loose their shape really quick and the neck goes loose...otherwise theyd be ok...its a case of too good to be true unfortunately

R.I.P. British Home Stores

The King of Shetlands back in the day.

When Shetlands were the poor mans option if you could not afford lambswool. None of them will appear on ebay. They were all worn and discarded.

Kingston branch closed Sunday. Nothing left apart from boxes full of DVDs. I did not know they sold DVDs. I have not really used the store in decades.

I hope Sir Shifty's yacht sinks with him on board.
