Nope, La Dolce Vita - George Raft's joint!
An old rat pack hangout in the '60s. Still great!
never been there, looks like my kind of old-school hang, I have recently regained my LA privileges, look forward to checking it out, thanks for the tip ......
Matteo's was a place we used to go to a fair amount ....
we do have a place we're very loyal to but there's always room for another classic Italian-American place in my heart ...

I've been to Matteo's, Madeo, La Scala (not the original location), etc. but none compare to La Dolce Vita for atmosphere. I like the food at Matteo's but like all the other places, it's been remodeled, modernized, homogenized; they've lost a lot of soul. I hardly consider them "Old L.A." anymore. La Dolce Vita is a winderful time capsule and the food is as good as ever - try it next time you're in L.A. and I'm sure it'll become a new (old) favorite!
I ordered a burger from a place that I yo to a lot which always did a good burger... it had recently gone under new management and someone thought it was a good idea to start putting butter in it them?
You don't need butter in a burger..it completely fucks up the taste..idiots.
