"Scholastic learning and polemical divinity retarded the growth of all true knowledge." - David Hume
I mean, come on, I have no idea what this quote references directly, but it's good.
"Italy is a good example of the theory that it is possible for countries to have the shape of a boot." - J. Reed
I like that. What are you referring to exactly?
I was once looking at a historical atlas and the maps of the Risorgimento caught my eye. A boot shaped country was not inevitable, but one possibility out of many possibilities. Thus, my theory was born.
"Corpuscles shall fear my wrath, for my person is quite large in relation to their own. Therefore, I am indignant as a result of their ability to travel unhindered through the passage of my urethra" - Worried Man
Haha...I think perhaps your rise is a little too high.
Probably best I sign off about now. 'Night...

I thought Nietzsche had brain syphillis?
In any event, I disagree, I think modern Germany is a great nation with an excellent social contract and focus on technology that offers it's populance something more than the average. But like most of Europe, it panders and is weak in the face of Muslim anti-Semitism for which it cannot even find a name. Perhaps it too will fall.
I heard recently that more people move to Germany than any other country, besides the U.S.
Plus, it must be nice to live in a country where trash isn't strewn all over the streets.
I have been to southern Germany on a few occasions on business.
Its a beautiful country and i have always found the people really friendly.
Timely!

The German bashing is not about the German landscape. It's nothing to do with mentality and certainly not with biologism. It's about German ideology.

German Ideology believes that ideas rule the people.
For those who speak a little German I'd recommend the book "Gegenaufklärung" (Counter-enlightenment) by Alex Gruber and Philipp Lenhard. The introduction can be read here:

"The German Ideology" by Marx and Engels criticises German ideology which is the ideology of the Younghegelianism (Feuerbach, Bauer, Stirner) that originated from German idealism (Hegel, Fichte etc.)
