Yesterday, I got off of the train in Harlem (NYC, wouldnt be caught dead in the Dutch one) and I was walking down the street when I saw in front of me a well dressed African American man, in a well worn, well fitted medium navy suit (Blueberry in color and obviously a custom jobbie) with medium brown cap toes shined within and inch of their lives. He wore a white shirt with a straight point collar and a royal blue woven tie in small, neat pattern of red squares outlined in yellow. He had tied it in the manner known as four-in-hand and there was the de rigeur dimple under the knot. A white pocket square
I asked him for some directions and he answered, but added that I was dressed quite well, to which I responded, I had the same though about his outfit. We parted ways after that brief interchange but it made me feel a bit better to know that there are still some well turned out chaps in the city. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me or Idve posted the man's photo.
Did you mention a while back that, for you, the highest tribute to your dandy-dom is when a black man compliments your outfit? If I am remembering correctly, congratulations.
I've noticed there are a fair amount of black men who dress well. They have a creative way of coordinating colorations and fabrics that otherwise, wouldn't work for most.

The clothing isn't particularly objectionable, if not a bit flamboyant; however, the attitudes displayed are a bit suspect. No Sprezzatura.

Is that an Udeshi collar on Jay-Z?
I must say that I was rather impressed with Jigga when he appeared on the cover of Watch Time - apparently he's something of a serious collector. Not the most subtle of guys by any means but not a blank.
The shirt and tie are almost certainly RLPL. Possibly the suit, too, though I have also heard he uses a SR tailor.
Puffy used to buy custom clothes from Jay Kos, may still do so, alhough I recall reading that he wears suits from his own clothing line these days. I had heard through the grapevine, which may or may not be apocryphal, that Kos required him to buy a minimum of like 10 suits at a time.
