Milwaukee Braves?
Yes, sir. They were my team, once upon a time, when my family lived in Sheboygan. I wore such a cap almost every summer between about 2nd and 5th grade.

I remember. Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron, Eddie Matthews
Yeah. Heroes of mine back then.
Shouldn't Sportswear discussion be in the Sportswear thread?
Militancy!
I like it, smack them down Tommy!
/\ the baseball caps do belong in the Sportswear thread, over there I would say "nice baseball caps," you can't go wrong with a Red Sox cap unless you're at Yankee Stadium, and the Milwaukee cap is cool too ... nice caps .....
but as far as Surf Ivy/West Coast look, not really .... baseball caps just weren't that big a part of that particular look historically even though they are useful at the beach and today you'll see them everywhere .....
so, to recap, baseball caps are a big part of the West Coast look today but were not in the heyday of Ivy .........
Ha...
Mine has been destroyed by a week of sun and saltwater...bad idea to wear to a wool cap in summer anyway
I like your "overlap and intersection" point, stanshall. Much of what we sort of re-enact, as it were, has been worn by people who were not as self-conscious about achieving a "look," for the most part, I'd guess. In other words, the West Coast Look police weren't going to come down on some kid for sporting a baseball cap with his surfer t-shirt and board shorts.
As for historic baseball caps, while not quite what's shown in that article, several online companies have been offering what I'd call vintage ball caps, like my Milwaukee cap. Those are some of the best designs, in my opinion, the older caps.

Good points, Breathless. Prime reason I never wore hats or caps after I grew my hair out circa teen and college years was my hair was too good (meaning, long, thick, etc.). In fact, it never occurred to me to cover up my mane except in the depths of an Iowa winter.
I wore my Braves hat this evening to a gathering and someone actually knew what it was. Granted, we were mostly geezers, but I was introduced at one point thus "...and here is our starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Braves."
Well, anyway, it, among other things, put a smile on my face.
For the record, I wore my cap with my Yellow Rat "Mar Vista Swimming Club" t-shirt, faded blue jeans, and green suede Pumas, and I was the best dressed guy there.

Breathless, did you pick up a Birdwell comp jacket this summer?
I picked up a Vans button-up coaches jacket a few weeks back. Not quite the same animal, more for fall wear, but I think I like it a little better.
