The Jeremy Corbyn sartorial thread

So, anyone seeing a return to the mainstream of shirts two inches too big on the collar, worn over white t-shirts and accompanied by large red flannel blazers?  If not, why not?

Re: The Jeremy Corbyn sartorial thread

The things he says are not really at issue on this sort of forum.  Not to say there isn't a serious debate to be had on these, but this is hardly the point.

Actually, the carefully polished look had by most UK politicians is still, in sartorial terms, pretty terrible.  I can think of only a handful of MPs who even own a half-decent suit...Corbyn, on the other hand, seems to go out of his way to look like a 1980s polytechnic lecturer, which in many ways is admirable, even if it is not a look I would wish to emulate myself...

Re: The Jeremy Corbyn sartorial thread

Maybe it is an admirable trait in a politician to not be overly concerned with superficial things?

He's been in Parliament for over 30 years yet, as Red Ken said, he doesn't own half a dozen houses and isn't getting a bung from some big corporation. I have no doubt that this failure to cash in on the opportunities open to him through his status as an MP marks him down as a prat in the eyes of the average Tory, and therefore totally unsuitable to be in office. But if all MPs had similar standards the UK might be a far better place to live. Corbyn represents a threat to the cosy arrangements that proliferate in the House which is why so many major figures, on both sides, have rushed to denounce him.

Word to the Woof... people can huff and puff all they want about Corbyn..but he has unlocked the principles most of us naturally see things by back into mainstream politics..and the played out record of how it needs to be...which is only by design to make it ideal for the minority of super rich..can be change to how things could be..by sensible, considered, democratic and fair politics.. do we really need to live like savages? No we dont.

Er, you seem to forget he can't do anything without his parties backing. I'm just not seeing such a load of Tories in red changing tact because he wants them to.

Re: The Jeremy Corbyn sartorial thread

We don't need to live like savages, but bringing collectivization back into the mainstream will lead to a one-way-ticket to bankruptcy and a visit from the IMF. And he did say that with his eyes all glowing yesterday in an interview between singing with the Wolfie Smith brigade.

The far Left is betting on demographic change to bring them victory. They may be right, but what will follow will be a disaster for the UK. Still 5 years to go, that's a long time for a 66 year old at the end of his career.

Reading some of the comments, it feels like the 70s never happened.
