French hunting / work / laboureur jacket

Anyone know where you can get one of these relatively cheap? Everything seems to be £250 +
New or vintage.

They are everywhere for a pittance second hand. New, you can get your hands on some great stuff in all kinds of material- cotton, wool, moleskin, denim for half that money.

If you're in London, Portebello road on a Saturday the shop across from Honest Jons records. Normally about 25 quid

Sorry, I meant £150.

This one is beautiful but I know customs will be horrendous on it. EVILbay is proving a nightmare to trawl through. I think a trip to London might be an idea.

Re: French hunting / work / laboureur jacket

If you mean the make LE LABOUREUR GB?

They seem to have relaunched themselves....

Try number6/Urban Excess/ & some others for new... cheaper than Vetra...and nicely made...and much roomier if you be a lumpy comme moi...

Alternatively old ones turn up on ebay/etsy....

I got into a bidding war with some git on a deadstock 60s one a while back.... suffice to say...Thee Captain triumphed and sent a stern letter...

Re: French hunting / work / laboureur jacket

On that shopkeeper site they have some nice looking watch caps - bit cheaper than seeing the bank manager about a loan for a real McCoys one.

Sounds like another nice family run company - they're good at this the old Germans.

Leuchtfeuer Strickwaren was founded in 1956 by Adolf Grohmann and his wife. The company was originally started as a family run knitting company. The company was responsible for hand knitting the famous 'Beacon Sweater' (Leuchtfeuer Strickwaren translation) and a small range of caps & socks worn by fisherman and mariners of the time. To this day they are producing the same products knitted to the original patterns. All manufactured in Lilienthal Germany.

Re: French hunting / work / laboureur jacket

Dear Sid,

Firstly - if I may just say....the life of a Ponce is a most splendid one...a most splendid one indeed....

Strangers come up to me constantly with a Croque Monsieur & ask me to sign it… or eat it even….

Chicks constantly flash a garter at me and invite me round the back of the bike shed for a knee trembler…. Not so easy at my time of life…my joints ain’t wot they woz Sir?!?!?

I could go on but No-one like a braggart, huh?!?

It’s 24/7…but I’m managing to cope I think…

I have some tremedous bits of clothing now over the years but what gets thee most wear at the end of the day?

That's right - this kinda shizzle...it'll go with anything... and you don’t really care if you’re sick down the front of it…not me of course…a friend of mine….

Yes – the moleskin is a nice weight….POIFECT for right now… thicker than the usual French chore for sure and I can get a good coupla layers underneath to boot...

Mine washed a treat too….

Like i say, the wool one is a different beast entirely....if I go rambling in it...a flock of sheep will "come for me" of that I'm sure...

Go Ponce yerself up big style fella….GO PONCE YERSELF UP TODAY!!!!

Well, if I buy the Ecru I'm also obviously going to buy a kiln and start throwing pots so the filth will be unavoidable

Re: French hunting / work / laboureur jacket

(confession time: in my younger days I did wear a full-on white Swedish Army Arctic sheepskin coat and that got properly filthy and was too heavy to even attempt to dry clean)

Re: French hunting / work / laboureur jacket

Easy Young Chuck….. I said E-A-S-Y there young Chuck….

Being a Ponce is just not for Christmas you know….

If these young Bucks are still with us in 20 years time and speaking with a Parisian slant…then maybe…just maybe…we’ll let them into Thee Full Ponce Massive….

Sadly as a child of the 70s Bop, I’ve done more than my fair share of nylon ha ha…..I’m Thee King of Static you know…..

Have I ever told you the scary tale of my runaway treadmill down the gym caused by the last paragraph?!??!

It’s way TOO SHOCKING (pardon the pun) for here…what with the young un’s n all…
