Chore jackets are all over Ebay, together with clothing that is not only distressed but also thrashed.  This approach is not a million light years away from Ralph Lauren offering chinos with ready-made holes nor from that of silly females still wearing jeans that are more hole than denim.  A fraying cuff or collar is one thing, deliberate destruction of fabric, no matter how inferior it might be, is something else.
