Yuca - haha, I hear you, don't worry, the early years are on their way...
Seems like 63 was the year in which it all went downhill.
Haha... many more cuffed trousers in '63 than in '64, that's for sure...
Interesting what a high percentage of these ads for menswear feature (usually admiring) sexy women, but then they were culled from Playboy, which may skew matters. I know good looking women still figure in many menswear ads, but I don't think they are usually so overtly admiring, sadly.
Lovely thanks again BB.
Particularly retro touches in the last batch: The pipe and the blazer badge in the Brookfield blazer ad and the ascot in the Grant's Scotch ad.
Wow. Great thread BB. I have always really enjoyed the Playboy ads. I love to pass a few minutes with a record, a drink, and a thumb through one of the old Pbs. A great way to remove yourself from the here and now. Thanks for taking the time. Can't wait for the earlier stuff.
WM, you're so right about the time machine qualities of these mags... Glad you enjoy... Been busy the last few days but more is definitely on the way...
More out of the park class ads mate. Thanks so much for your efforts. Love the Bob peak art on the Puritan one and that Playboy Patio set up is beautiful. The Spitfire one brings back bad memories for my other half as it was one of those she hit in her first accident after passing her driving test as a teenager in the early '80s. Whenever we see one now or on TV or an old ad and she winces!!
I love the idea that women will go for you because you wear a certain brand of socks. Now I know where I went wrong for all those years.
Boom ! Great stuff BB thanks for taking time out to do this.
Its much appreciated.
More coming soon. '59-'62.
