According to our new member Ian:
He's not Jim.
Jim has actually done something other than get pissed and chat shit online i.e. he now has some sort of clothing business.
Ian: please can you provide the link.
Interesting. The most basic of websites and zero mentions (as far as I can find) anywhere online. Ian, please do share more info on his studio. I'm particularly interested in knowing: How did you hear about it? How the hell can a London tailor specialising in ivy survive? Particularly one that does zero online publicity? And anything else you can recall.
Will do. I've classes to get to next. I know he sells primarily to Russians in London and does a load of word of mouth via them. His tailor Jacobs who does all the work came from Savile Row and brought his Russian contacts with him. The Shirtmaker is long standing friend of his from Jermyn Street.
None of them do this for a living. Frostie still works in finance. The rest also do their own thing elsewhere.
Laters.
I had no idea that Russians in London wear ivy of any sort, yet alone tailored. How bizarre. I didn't realise Jim worked either. I was under the impression that he was unemployed and drinking himself to death.
To be fair I think it's pretty good that Jim has used all his time away from the internet to do something major. It's only been 2 years or so since he left here and already he's created a website with almost zero content. Just imagine what he'll have achieved in a decade.
Its shocking ! Am i the only one who feels for poor Jacobs ?
There he was, a very sucessful bespoke tailor from the "row".His one wish after many years of toil was to work for himself producing Ivy for Russians.
He brings his own clientele and even enlists his old mate the shirtmaker from Jermyn Street.
His new partner "Frost" an experienced viral marketeer promises him a world class website......tut.

It's no wonder those Russians are queuing up to spend money there.
I think the Russian connection is just because they have some of the most money in London today. Younger members of that community like the "Ralph Lauren" look. Their dads shopped on savile row and they want to go their own way? The company is ultra pricey anyway. Bespoke only and to a ridiculous standard from what I could gather before being hustled out of the door when a customer arrived. It was an experience.
I first saw the website on Ask Andy. Now deleted. Frostie said the website is supposed to be off putting to timewasters & he didn't want an online presence for the business anyway. Jacobs insisted.
Probably that's me done for this topic.

Please forgive me if I'm making unfounded accusations Ian, but this is the most unbelievable story I've heard for quite some time. Which can only suggest that you are in fact Jim, doing what you know best i.e. yet more online BS.
You're welcome to post or PM me information to prove the contrary. If you can offer proof that you actually exist then I will happily eat my words.

I'm an open book. I've got no obsession with Frostie. I found a link online and followed it. It served MY interest in media manipulation linked with Ivy League clothes for my course in Media Studies. I approached him to quote on a jacket I wanted but couldn't find. A correspondence ensured resulting in a visit to his place. Anybody else could do the same. I don't represent him. I have no interest in him. Unlike you lot.
Go ask him and leave me alone? You have his email. What am I to do with him?
His place in London is a stone's throw from South Kensington Underground Station. It's just a workroom. It's open by appointment as far as I can gather. Talk yourself in just like I did?
If you want Ivy League at Savile Row standards and if you can afford it. Go ahead. I can't but I have enjoyed being in possession for a while of info online that anybody else could have had if they were genuinely interested in high end bespoke Ivy. A shirt is £400 if that makes you happy/unhappy.
Take the info or not. Include me out. Go and email the little grinning ****!
As a PS I will add that you can buy high end bespoke Ivy on Savile Row from Anderson & Sheppard without a trip out to South Ken anyway. All you need is the pockets.
I've found my brief involvement with him interesting but not as interesting as my chat about solid seersucker on here. If you are all so hungry for "Jim" (not remotely his real name as he was born "Rufus") go email him.
He'll be loving this. So why the hell are you doing it?
With respect.
Oh and just a PS. Just to prove my impartiality. I bet all his clients are Russian Mafia. Gangsta Ivy!
How did "Frostie" appear to you when you visited the workshop? Has he finally got the Big C under control?
Rufus eh, who'd thought it. He kept that under wraps. How did you manage to squeeze that piece of info out of him?
The idea of anyone in the Russian mafia ever buying classic American style clothing - i.e. non-branded and old fashioned - is very hard to swallow. In fact it's completely unbelievable.
I just don't think that I'm answerable to any of you. I threw in the Russian Mafia line as a joke. Where does Russian money come from in London? I don't know.
His workroom/"Studio" is in South Kensington. Photos of his clothes? I didn't take any. How uncool would I have looked?
Frostie talks at length. That's how I learned stuff.
And do please tell me please how I prove a negative? I'm not him. If you are desperate for me to be him then fair enough. You prove to me that I am him. Please do.
Cutting to the chase, I can't afford his clothes and neither can you because they are not aimed at us. Boo Hoo.
Anybody can believe what they like. All they are displaying are the limits of their knowledge of the world.
And so, once again - Include me out!
Or have the balls to talk to this company yourself and report back.
It's got nothing to do with me.
Who types like this? Is it a student style? It is incoherrent at best.
I don't know who Jim is so please do not read into this. Also, I would caution you about thinking that being talked about on Talk Ivy somehow correlates to viral media or media manipulation.

Being talked about on Talk Ivy is a sartorial publicity sump.
