But if you really want to be a King of your universe you buy these:
The Supreme for Louis Vuitton house brick for $1,000

The Supreme for Louis Vuitton skateboard for $59,000 +

This shows the labeling has gone to the utmost extremes now. L.V has lost it's status among people in-the-know and only holds appeal for the people who aren't in-the-know and who are lost in the delusion of marketing. Just imagine how useless this L.V brand will be in the future if this trend continues. The fact that a house brick has now been branded shows L.V is headed for the gutter imo. How long before L.V it becomes a mall brand. Lots of people are getting wise and heading for better things, but of course there are those late stragglers (the ones who don't realise what's going on) who are getting chewed up by this big marketing monster. The victims are everywhere on youtube, but sadly they don't realise they are victims.

This video talks about what we basically know. It talks about how many of the world's luxury goods are designed in Europe and made in China. And it talks about how the fake versions can be almost identical because they use similar materials and skills in factories close by. Imo these companies know people buy for the name so they can get away with using cheaper materials and less skilled workmanship because the customer is generally not educated on quality. I've seen so many young guys buying cheap made-in-China shoes with Gucci on them while ignoring the well made Italian Santoni shoes beside them for half the price.

Perhaps the ultimate in "buying for the brand"?

It's the big con these days, marketing. People buy into an illusion of status and prestige. People wear clothes from fancy shops that are mass produced and of questionable quality, and they drive massed produced cars marketed as luxury, and the true quality and status doesn't matter because it is the perception that really counts.

GREAT QUOTES 1
Michael Alden: "Fashion is followed by people who are not capable of developing their own style. They piggyback on trends. People with no magnetism wear brands to stand out. They have to wear gaudy clothes in order to be noticed"

GREAT QUOTES 3
Bruce Boyer: “There’s a relatively new phenomenon — you can check this on all of those ‘stylish’ blog sites — of men dressing as though it were a blood sport, a competition rather than a celebration. They wear their clothes as though they were weapons"

This phenomenon has spread to other cultures now too. People have a real thirst for original items. I think part of it is the smashing of the regular fashion cycle by various factors such as unsustainable fashion and insta-fashion. Fashion never gets a chance to settle and thus it is being temporarily replaced by items that are recognizably unique.

Yes but when I open up my chain of Wigemore Juicing Shops in Peking Shanghai Wuhan and Chengdu, I will take on the persona of the Shooman. And what they don’t spent on the Gooch they’ll spend on the Juice.
Vaclac is consulting on the oyster-inspired offerings.

Thank you Shooman. She looks down on us now, esp. you, with an approving look. Perhaps when I establish the chain of Wigmore Jooce shops in China, I could replace Mao's portrait with that of Wigmore.
Steve at bedo's leatherworks basically confirms what l have been saying about Louis Vuitton using synthetic coatings for their `so called' leather goods. See video from 7:30 - 7:52. Steve says it is a vinyl coating, but according to my sources it is PVC plastic used on most of their bags/wallets now. Regardless, it is cheap and it could explain why a number of people are moving onto better things.

I have emailed Steve about this so hopefully he replies back.

Our mate hits the nail right on the head here regarding Louis Vuitton. He also exposes the dirty secret that they are plastic coated and usually NOT leather.

I post in this thread as a resource for people all around the world. It's point is that famous brand names don't mean quality, and to more knowledgeable people a famous brand name is not prestigious either. Why? Because things are mass produced now...almost everyone can access them, and the quality is far from luxury. Many of the expensive new cars (mass produced) use cheap plastic parts under the hood because they are cheap to make and sell under famous brand names, and many of the famous clothing names also mass produce using cheap materials.

A good video is this one below where Louis Vuitton talks about a duffle bag for travelling, yet they recommend keeping the bag away from rough surfaces, away from water and out of the sun. Doesn't sound like a great bag if it can't be used for everyday travel activities. How is it possible to keep a travel bag out of the weather???
