Welk I went into J Press again, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. So much for first impressions. Also the Oyster Bar in GCStation was excellent. Went into the Saloon and had acouple dozen and my bartender ended up being the little brother of a friend of mine from South Boston. Small world!
Thanks for the tips.
Going late October and staying in Midtown. I think JPress and Alden are my essentials on the shopping day. Cocktails, budget eats and live music tips welcome, especially places we need to book. The bar in the station sounds great.
Going to see the Knicks, booked a bar for cocktails with a nighttime view, meeting some friends for a club / music night.
Any other shouts? Unfortunately the game is the same night as the Halloween parade which looked fun.
Pizza Suprema near Penn is A+... If you want a quick daytime slice...
Jimmy's Corner for very old-school bar in midtown
Rudy's - dive bar on 9th Ave, a couple of blocks across from Times Sq in the Hells K1tchen district. An entertaining, if downmarket place to spend an hour. They also dish out never ending free hot dogs with every drink, not the finest example of a hot dog (which I consider is to be found at the food wagon opposite John Lewis in Kingston upon Thames), but they soak the beer up well.
Been lurkin this forum for a bit, figured I'd post about my neck of the woods. All great rec's so far!! Here's my 2 cents :
Village Vanguard for some classic jazz den vibes.
Crowley Vintage and Wooden Sleepers in Brooklyn for some well curated (but kinda pricey) vintage.
Totonno's Pizza in Coney Island is well worth the trip if you're willing to head that far out.
All of the museum's mentioned are great but also worth noting the new Whitney.
Lots to see in such a short time!
