Yup - I've followed your very path too..but the varying arms length is the bugbear..
Ordered this from new range at ME and arrived after a while today.

It is great, good collar that is longer than recent LE (just about 3 finger), stripe and colour is far better than the image, back button, loop, centre box pleat. For summer this is a great shirt.
Tailored fit really just means normal fit, the old LE traditional fit was a very roomy style. That may be more to your taste.
The fabric just feels like cotton, I didn't notice why stretch in it to hand. If you want ample room for over indulgence then the stretch may come in handy.
This may be heresy, but I've only made two purchases from "new" J. Press, and haven't been happy with the quality/quality control of either of them. I also bought a relatively recent J. Press suit on eBay which I like a lot, it's a nice suit, but a seam was busted in the back near the sleeve. It was an easy fix, but I wasn't impressed, considering I have much older Southwick and BB suits with no issues at all.
That said, I own a few vintage J. Press shirts and love them. I would like to try the new Brooks OCBD - they say they've "restored" the collar - but I hate paying for shirts. I've paid the full price for my Mercer and Michael Spencer shirts, and they're excellent, but those days are in the past. If it's not less than $100, I'm not buying it. I would like to try Kamakura, despite their endorsement by Roger "The Penguin" Stone.

"Block stripe" eh? Thanks. Sounds somewhat familiar. Now, awning stripe, I don't know. The other thing I used to eschew -- was multi-color stripes. I always thought it was better to keep it simple. Clean and simple is safe but one also avoids bad taste. I think one has to have very good taste to do something more complex.
Forget it, candy stripe is the way to go.
Or was it track stripe?
Time for a G&T - ho hum!
I think there is almost a spectrum, the narrower the stripe - the more formal the shirt, the wider the more casual.
So long as the use is correct, I like both types.
Hold the fort...what is this I see...spank me hard and call me naughty...a must have for spring.
