hi all
best wishes for 2019 where ever we all are.
What Ivy styled wear do you aspire for in the coming year?
On the whole I'm done with adding allowing for a few shirts, other than perhaps one more Donegal sports jacket jacket in a lighter colour, it will be replacing and trading up in quality now particularly in shoes and raincoats as they perish over time in coming year.
Trousers are my main focus - some better formal trousers and replacing some ageing chinos/Khakis with the ones recommended at the group over recent months.
Whatever your choices - I hope you have a happy and healthy year.

Great thread Unseen... I spent the last year amassing a huge amount of clothing, so my goal for this year is to spend no money on clothes, other than alterations for a few suits I need to have done, and probably some resoling later in 2019... Instead, I'm going to focus on wearing what I have... I'm planning to wear more suits, though I'm not abandoning my tweeds and blazers by any means... Just enforcing more of a work/home split in my wardrobe...
A very very happy New Year to everyone here, I'm looking forward to more posts in this thread and to seeing it all borne out in the ILSFT thread over the coming months

My clothing rez for 2019 is to continue to slim my collection and, as Unseen says, to replace and upgrade where the opportunity presents. It's a depressing thought, but I'm coming towards the end of my working life and even if, as I plan, I keep going for a few extra years it is unlikely that I will ever wear out my business clothes. So no more formal suits or trousers will be bought .... but a nicely cut suit is a thing to relish it's true, so never say never. A nice dark navy smart overcoat would be nice for those wintertime funerals when a duffle coat just isn't appropriate.
My basic aspiration is that any purchases will be to beef up my casual wardrobe, Japanese denim, Cordovan shoes, good quality belts, maybe some really tough khakis. The sort of gear that biplane pilots and vintage motorcycle racers wore when they were looking really, really rugged.
Best wishes to all for 2019.
Happy new years all.
2018 brought me to the realisation that I couldn't possibly store the amount of clothes I own.
I haven't slimmed my collection much but it certainly hasn't increased in size since early 2018 and apart from a desperately needed pair of cords it's unlikely to for a few months. I am taking a trip to Hong Kong in April and am thinking about getting some items copied.
Any suggestions or advise on this is very welcome.
All the best for 2019.
Happy New Year all.
Great idea for a thread Unseen.
I am hoping to add a decent pair of grey flannels plus a three patch blazer.
My best wishes for 2019.
