Re: Is there an American Fogey style?

Thanks you guys.  I did think of a blur oxford cloth but thought it too preppy.  I still need to get a tattersall, but thought that would be too British.  I hoping for a truely American Fogey style.  The girlfriend doesn't help, she thinks this is silly, but then she doesn't speak much English.

Button-down tattersall is the answer!

I'm thinking that to keep my look American Fogey, maybe an old Pendelton plaid shirt would be appropriate.  Are you UK guys familar with this old American company?

Re: Is there an American Fogey style?

Thinking aloud here-but isn`t the collection of sartorial excellence- coming up in the not to distant future-do you think you could persuade Mr.Kabbaz to sponsor Uncle Jack in a similar way he sponsored Connemara last year- lets face it Uncle Jack is sure to draw a big crowd- which can only be good for the artisans business.

Certainly a bigger crowd -than a  no show Joe- like the pseudo Irish guy Connemara.

set it up -I`ll sort the travel arrangements this end.

P.S. do you think you could get a message to Henry for me - he mainly posts on the British Forum-ask him to pop over for a chat - we like his work and think he would bring a lot to the forum.

Thanks.

CM:  I wouldn't be caught dead at Sartorial Excellence.  Too many darts and pleats.

Re: Is there an American Fogey style?

I see your point- but surely for a glimpse of the great Uncle jack?

play your cards right and I may be able to arrange for you to touch the hem of his coat- now how many offers like that do you get in a lifetime?

just changing the subject for a minute.

who appears on your wank list- I confess to being a little dissapointed with the response to my= Be still my beating heart thread.

Do you have in mind a classic beauty?

perhaps Marillyn Monroe- rumour has it JFK and Bobby did her- although history doesn`t record -if they spit roasted her- betcha` they did- those Kennedys were all about keeping it in the family-I`ll put money on that JFK even had a dabble with Ethel - prior to his fatefull trip to Dallas .

Any way come on` fess up - who`s on the list?

Thinking about it, TBD walked into a right set-up and didn't blink an eye.

Tough cookie.

Re: Is there an American Fogey style?

Ahem,

The AmFogue attires himself, predominantly, in the aged, dried brown dung colour spectrum. Preferably monochromatic herringbone fabric in tailored garments. Certainly no indiscreet, flashy blue/white streaked shirt. Eschew Amish blue.  A nice, quiet brown minimal-contrast plaid BD is A-OK! Pea green shirting with pocket protector is admired by other AmFogues.  Army surplus boot socks. Brogues should weigh a minimum of 3 pounds, each. Some really wallflowerish grey is permitted on special festive occasions, such as funerals. Reference the senior members of AndyTrad.

The county UKFogue attires himself, predominantly, in the fresh, juicy, olive tinted dung colour spectrum of the herbivore. The blandest tatters all shirting is to be prized. Really ratty rumpled brown linen is a rakish look during the three weeks of summer.

The academic UKFogue raiment shall be addressed by the erudite redbrick grads lurking.

One requires one 'snap.

Re: Is there an American Fogey style?

I really don't think that Tom would troll, CM.
If you'd met him you'd know what I mean.

The guy is VERY straight.
Good fun, but straight.

Nothing wrong with that.
