Re: Baracuta alternatives?

The collar is high compared to some harringtons but I'm very happy with it, it looks great and when zipped sits perfectly on my neck.
When the temperature dropped on a business trip last week, I was grateful.
Open or with the zip down the collar seems to sit nicely on the chest.
So, yes I am happy. It's just a slightly different take on the jacket.

Re: Baracuta alternatives?

I see no reason to start a new thread (quite unlike me, but there).  Much as I hate the stereotypical 'arrington (yes, Bara-sodding-Cuta again), and have never played golf in my life, nor intend to start doing so now, my word on it, I've been eyeing up some inexpensive USA-made golf jackets.  I mean around the £20-£25 mark.  Not bad, eh?  So, are Grenfell still top of the range?  Are Gant now just bus-pass casual clobber no longer worthy of consideration?  Was the JS version all it was - or was not - cracked up to be?  Brooks Brothers did something that looked rather nice, rather plain.  But - and this is key - I do not want to look as if a. I'm regressing or b. on the way to being a coffin-dodger planning a cruise with Saga.  Any fresh suggestions?

Forget the JS version.  I've just done some checking and don't much like the sound of that rear pocket.

Re: Baracuta alternatives?

I wouldn't bother with Gant, definitely bus-pass casual clobber.
I always liked the Burberry Golfing jacket from the early 80's, in Blue or Beige. A mix race lad who used to come into the shop wore them with OCBD's, 501's and Cole Haan's. He always looked good.

Never thought about Burberrys' in this particular context.
