A Plain Grey Sweatshirt

I'm looking around for one of those wardrobe staples ... a plain grey sweatshirt. It has to be a  decent quality and weight of material, have the right fit, the neck not too loose and not too tight, plus that essential detail the criss cross stitching under the collar at the front.

This is to replace a Lee sweatshirt I randomly bought in Holland a few years ago. It was cold and I hadn't packed enough clothing, it was bought in desperate circumstance but it turned out to be the perfect sweatshirt. But I'm struggling to find a replacement.

Lee don't make them at the moment. I've looked in JS who currently have made in the US and made in Japan sweats under their own label, nice but the fit wasn't for me. Buzz Rickson and Real McCoys - both heavy knit but I baulk at paying £150 for a sweatshirt ... I mean.

Any ideas?

I don't think this has the stitching you're looking for, but Kellsport is ace - https://www.sweatshirtsusa.com/Heavyweight-Crewneck-Sweatshirt-18-oz-fabric_p_1.html

It's imported, blah blah blah, but I've been happy with my Bean sweatshirts: https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/123436?page=athletic-sweats-classic-crewneck-sweatshirt&bc=&feat=sweatshirt-SR0&csp=a&searchTerm=sweatshirt

I've been looking for a few weeks Woof.  As you say the Buzz Rickson are in the £130 range.  Sunspel look good, but again they are £110.

John Lewis has these in stock (I wonder if the Levi label could be removed):

Aero Leather are planning to do a heavyweight one soon, but it's not out yet. LVC Bay Meadows one's were pretty good a few years ago?
