Very nice.
Nice!
Marc is the Jewish Paul Bunyan.
Yep like those.
I'm normally not fond of chukkas, but those do look very nice.
Marc, what do you think of Clarks Wallabees?

The Russell shoes are roughly to the same level of finish as the Gokeys. I am not saying that is bad, just that they are about the same. I rate Quoddy slightly better, but Quoddy has a very limited selection of shoes. That is the same problem with Gokey, though supposedly they accept special orders. All of these are positively rustic compared to the usual suspects, but you probably want that. Russells are mostly moccasin construction, which is very comfortable if you are stationary (for example, in a plane) but will kill you on the long walks.
These chukkas from Orvis, below, as an alternative to the Russell chukkas, look like the shoe equivalent of a Mack truck and probably would be more comfortable during extensive use...

Aesthetically, I agree with you that the Russell model is much nicer. Russell adds "vamps" for support, I think their most supportive construction is "triple-vamped." I have it. It did not do me any good on a long trek through Philadelphia. But I have not worn Gokey's, I have merely inspected them. And my remarks were specific to their level of finish. I bought a pair of custom Russells, and they might have plenty of support were I stalking tigers on the veldt or mallards in the wetlands. But in the wilds of Philadelphia my feet were sore. Were I back in Minnesota I can imagine the Russell ostrich shoes to be the only dress shoe I would own.
Very nice:
