I bought one, in green cord. Found it too stiff altogether (how many washings to soften it?). so thought I might prefer a long-sleeve polo. It just didn't feel - or look - right. Too 'constructed'?
Never really gelled with corduroy as a material for shirts, too thick and difficult to tuck in (although popovers are often untucked of course).
^ Agreed. Cord is lovely for jackets, coats, caps and trews but not shirts.
I had a pair of corduroy shoes once. I must have read somewhere that it was mod. Terrible things they were.
Cord jackets yes, but I cannot do it in anything else.
In a Cord sports jacket, it has to look a bit sloppy and avoid being too formal. Seem to work better in a two button style for me.
I of had a cord Jean jacket in the 80s I recall distantly.

To continue with my reports following my reconnaissance trip today to Chiltern Street - John Simons are expecting some new corduroy pop-overs in stock very soon for the Autumn season.
As noted by TRS. They will find favour with some.
AFS, was yours new or vintage?
New - from Chiltern Street. Worth taking a look at their website perhaps?
