Ban-Lon

Seen, if only in passing, just the other day.  Would anyone find their shirts an acceptable alternative to something in pure cotton?  Man-made fibres I do not like, though I recall a brief Dacron debate on here years ago and acknowledge that some items of - Americana? - were unnatural...  shudder...  I well remember my Lion Of Troy half-sleeve, bought from a very lovely Ebay seller in around 2007 - and not really being able to enjoy it.  Don Draper is, apparently, seen in Ban-Lon.  Can't recall...  didn't really warm to 'Mad Men'...

Re: Ban-Lon

Ban Lon shirts were omnipresent in the 1980's thrifts, usually the larger collared models that seemed to have connotations of disco, though in retrospect were probably earlier 70's. Started noticing the earlier model polos though don't recall wearing them. Was walking with a friend who was wearing a Ban Lon polo 25 years ago when an older black gentleman stopped him and said, "I like that shirt. I used to wear a lot of Ban Lon."

I had mock necks (Puritan, Arrow Nassau, etc) but no polos. They seem to sell for a lot nowadays, not sure why. There might be some fetish connection, and a midcentury one.

Re: Ban-Lon

Be very careful when near a naked flame.

Re: Ban-Lon

I can still recall one of my old flames naked, if I squint hard enough.

Re: Ban-Lon

If she had been of a more recent vintage you would have probably made a video together.
