....post wash and press and the results are in: brooks brothers really were the best!
A red chambray half sleeve popover by Arrow cum laude is currently winging its way across the Atlantic. At £9, the postage cost more!
Should be great with off white Levi's 5 pockets and CVOs

That's a great find Colin.
Colin: A red chambray half sleeve popover by Arrow cum laude is currently winging its way across the Atlantic. At £9, the postage cost more!
Was going to pull the trigger on that too, but was obviously procrastinating too much ha
If it ends up too small happy to send it you way!
Very kind of you Colin, thanks.
I've had a few pieces from Sunspel in their latest sale.
This season they launched a shade of royal blue they called Cosmic Blue.
I was immediately bowled over by the colour as it was more interesting than navy and had a lovely Summer vibe about it. Sadly with all things Sunspel not cheap.
I've needed up with a merino polo shirt and a sweatshirt - both with 30% off.
Very pleased with the sweatshirt although unlike other Sunspel Products I've had to size up.
The red chambray popover arrived today. Positively space age!
Deadstock - with collar cardboard still attached, and some slight marks from storage.
Popover is great, but the thing which makes it really boom years - and pretty weird - is a diamond shape hem. Never ever seen anything like it. You see square hem shirts, but I've never seen a shirt with a pointed hemline. Very bizarre and kind of cool!
It does mean I can only ever wear it tucked in. But would pair with some trim high rise khakis or white levis and weejuns or CVOs.
Shame we can't post photos anymore!

Known as a poncho hem, some of them also had scalloped sleeves. I have 3 or 4 popovers with the same styling, designed to be worn untucked.
Interesting, Tom. It's a new detail for me. Wasn't a fan initially, but actually kind of liking it now. Feels VERY boom years. Like some of my other mid-60s-era shirts, a slightly more modest-sized collar, too
Apart from Hawaiian shirts, I always tuck my shirt into my trousers. I realise that with the increasing weight of the population many no longer think that is a good look.

White/Blue,white strip reversible RL bucket hat. £20 from TKMaxx. Retailed for £75 previously. I'm not a fan of bucket hats in general but I have to be careful in the sun these days. It looks alright for knocking about in.
I have a few popovers and I reckon you have to be buff to wear them. A hint of a beer gut and they don't look good. When I was in shape I would tuck the shirts in but when I put on a few pounds I tried the untucked look but not a great look on me.
A red RL polo shirt, the old school sort with the split hem and the longer tail on the back, in mint condition. A direct replacement for the old favourite that finally wore out last year. A charity shop pick up in true Andy B style and eminently more satisfying than anything I have bought new recently.
I bought another pair of olive chinos from Stratford Uniqlo today at £34.90. That makes 5 pairs for me. The olive is lighter than previous pair I have. Still only do a 34" leg so I need to get them altered. I picked up another white t shirt for £14.90 another bargain for the quality of material.
I was planning a visit the West Ham shop at the London stadium but I ran out of energy and it's a long walk from the shopping centre. I already have plenty of claret and blue stuff for wearing in the pub tomorrow night for the West Ham final game.
^You can't go wrong with olive green chinos. G-Star are my current favs.
Had a RRL white shirt and a Ralphy green cotton jacket arrive. The jacket is in the RL style that is trim fitting, so I sized up. It's a style I'll wear with polos rather than shirts.
Robbie - I picked up a navy pair of the Uniqlo chinos on my recent trip into town a couple of weeks ago, I’m up to 4 pairs ! Also a pair of their khaki shorts at £24.90, not sure how soon I’ll wear either but I reasoned they won’t stock them forever, the Mingus jacket in waterproof cotton material should arrive from JS next week,
Good luck to the Hammers tonight !
Just seen Dnagroove has his Ivy jackets available, natural, olive and madras, Euro 270.00 , natural shoulder ,dartless, hook vent,
Staxfan: Also a pair of their khaki shorts
I picked up a pair of the Corduroy shorts in Neutral, really happy with them. Fancied the pink but the natural were more versatile, look great with shirts or polos.
Also scored a pair of vintage NOS '63 OG-107 pants (sold a pair I had that were massive on me to a fellow ivy wearer and source these for the same amount) just got to wait for them to be delivered along with a vintage s/s v-neck sweat from Japan
Saw those ivy jackets, Staxfan. Half intrigued. Would like to see the shoulder. Too short for me, but they also seem to do made to measure. My worry is that it might be a little too 'mod' in fit, but they look nice.
I was excited to see the DNA jackets but on closer inspection I think the lapel is too large for my liking.
I've just hade a MTO navy cotton Ivy suit from JS. The colour, fabric and details are superb.
I ordered it oversized and got my local tailor to finish it. Probably will end up costing me a lot more than off the peg but I'm getting the longer rise I like together with the all the details I love.
Interesting you sized up. My linen JS in a size 40 (I'm usually always a 40 long) is definitely a little on the snug side on both shoulders and chest. Any thicker material and it would be too small. Although I wise the linen was a little bit more robust as it loses its shape so quickly. Picked up some trousers too, just wish they were unhemmed like the old JS chinos for a proper cuff (going to try and add a false 'french' cuff when I have the time).
Whereas I have a cord jacket in 42 which is much closer to my usual fit. The shoulders especially, though perhaps a touch too wide in the body (no problem when wearing with a Shetland underneath mind).
Agreed on the DNA groove jacket. Don't mind the wider lapels per se, nor the long hook vent, but it all looks a little 'curvy' to my eye. Too short in any case!
Useful pieces of information there on the JS linen jackets. I'm usually a 40 but it looks like I need to size up. Haven't been able to get to JS recently but I need to make the effort and buy a suit.
The DNA jackets look a bit tailored for my tastes and probably wouldn't go with my expanding waistline. I haven't been able to run for 3 months and with my eating good food and drinking too much wine and beer I have put on a bit of timber. I need to get a grip of myself.
The DNA guy just seems to go a tad too far with all his products for our trad tastes, shirts are a good example,
Nice stripes/ checks etc but the collars , ah, I hadn’t inspected the jackets too closely on first viewing but all the comments here make sense,
How was the hangover yesterday Rob ? hehe
Stax- I'm under oncologists orders 'everything in moderation' but to save time at the bar we were drinking out of 2 pint plastic cups. I'm lucky as in old age I don't get hangovers but we did sink a few Guinness. Nephew and mates were in Prague. Great result and I've had to keep quiet about Moyes haha.
Have you got your JS jacket made up yet? Something I might be interested in.
^Colin
Yes, I find that the JS jackets do vary a lot.
I have a moleskin version that even though it's tagged as a 42" is a lot neater on the shoulders than any of my others.
What I will highlight though is this.
As the jackets are unstructured they can be easily tailored to fit.
If you get the shoulder line exactly how you want it the sleeves, blades and arms can all be reduced.
