The forum has such a rich history of brands, music, events, books and reference points that it would be a crying shame to loose them.

Definitely fix rather than refresh. Anyone remember what happened to the old Modculture forum when it was updated? That was a crying shame. No need for any bells or whistles, just a return to the basic functions as others have said—images being the main one.

Well, I think the issue is (as previously stated by FNB) that the forum had a lot of modifications so it's not a simple install update, what version of PunBB is the site running?
I'm assuming it's at the most v1.3 given the copyright is still Rickard Andersson (who stepped away in 08), meaning the latest update possible would be to v1.4.6 – from looking into the development of PunBB, it's now at v3.3, but the community doesn't seem to think you can update a site to the latest without issues, and that's not doing anything radical, it's still a lightweight simple forum, just up to date.

I think there are several issues, one of which is this isnt a popular software to work with nowadays. Also, the party I am relying on to upgrade the site is moving slowly. But we are working on it and I am somewhat dedicated because I want to do some writing again.

I think there is definitely a need for some serious informed writing. I am afraid there is just too much 'look at me' on the one hand, and eccentricity verging on the unhinged on the other on the fora in general.

Even if the forum takes a few more years to get running properly, or even longer, we still have time, and we WILL wait. I am happy to wait 10 years if needed, l am even happy to wait another 20 years if l have to. Sometimes these things take time to work out. I am sure one day we will get there, and then we can all start again and write amazing things.
Would be nice to read some more Film Noir Buff material. Maybe the old H man might come back too, l am sure he is lurking around not too far away.
