Ivy As Mood

A borrowing.  This is key.  It's the key to the entire approach.  Same with what one eats, reads, watches, listens to.
It is - let's be clear about this - 'anti-Mod'.  It can't be otherwise.
Oh, but then - dammit - there's that other use of the word 'Mod' (which doesn't mean what any old Mod imagines it means).
Sometimes we need to shed a skin or two.
Plenty of threads about Ivy as a mood are there to be explored.  This is just an early spring reminder.

Re: Ivy As Mood

As the days get warmer and the evenings stay lighter it's amazing how my mood changes. This subsequently changes everything from clothing, music , alcohol intake through to what I can bothered to read.

The hard bop and funk gets replaced with lighter sounds. A bit of Bossa goes down nicely. I've just bought a great compilation of Italian lounge music called Papik presents Cocktail Italy that will be on heavy rotation at Singer Towers.

Aperol and Pimms will feature heavily. Any excuse for Nyetimber.

The return of live music will bring new opportunities too. I know this Summer I'll  be seeing Fatback, EWF and Cameo. Happy sounds creating happy people.

One of many things that's great about Ivy is it accommodates seasonal variation so well. Cords, Moleskins and Jeans will be consigned to the back of the wardrobe and my Bills khakis will come out. My collection of John Simons madras shirts will no doubt be added to. Every year I say no more then the masters at Chiltern Street deliver even more irresistible goodness.

I'm also looking forward to the release of the next Vinyl Detective novel in May. Cozy crime that easily digestible.

Covid may be on the increase, the cost of living soaring and Mad Vlad threatens to cook us all in a thermo-nuclear sauce but life is about the journey and not the destination so my mood remains good.

Re: Ivy As Mood

I'm thinking of a little Astrud Gilberto in the next week or two.

These are our summer drinks of choice in the Finnish commune although the English sparkling wine has been replaced with a good quality Cava or Prosecco  due to cost. I had my first Gin & Tonic of the year last weekend and it tasted great.

Some great stuff on the JS site (mainly shirts)  is pulling me back in to buying mode.

I tell my worried Finnish friends to stop watching the news and start listening to more music. I've started listening to Afro Beat again which gets my juices flowing
