So, turns out the Edwin 'loose straight' fit the bill absolutely perfectly. I sized down two (34-32) and the 32 leg is probably slightly longer than 32, too.

Best pair of jeans I've owned - better than the Levis 1947s, too. Made in Japan, nice heavyweight and actually relatively trim despite the name (would hate to think how skinny the other sizes are).

Dig around for discount codes and pick them up on sale for less than £100 (more than that is silly money for jeans), in case anyone in the future reads this thread.
