Ok chaps calm down. I'm not on about any Swedish art house film with groovy sax solos.
The iconic US TV show is now available again on Youtube. Originally airing from '58 onwards it's a wonderful visual snapshot of New York during the Boom years.
Highly, highly recommended.
I saw the movie the TV series was based on a few years ago. Semi-documentary style as I remember it, like 'The House On 92nd Street' and others.
I'll certainly give the TV version a try. Any visual images of NYC are always welcome, from whatever era.
On the subject of art house movies and suchlike, I recall one of my tutors, Professor Bell, telling me that he and a mate had gone eagerly to see 'Blow Up' back in the mid-60s (1966, was it?) in order to gawp at the quick flash of pubic hair seen on screen. But, at the critical moment (or just before, I suppose) he dropped his ice-lolly and bent to retrieve it...
Ditto AFS - the first X film I went to see was Barbarella, 2 hours or whatever of complete and utter tosh. But in the opening sequence Jane Fonda stripped off her spacesuit down to the buff while floating around weightless in outer space. All you saw was the barest flash of nipple for about 0.25 seconds, but enough to sustain weeks of teenage wanking.
