J PRESS SPRING '25

Last year I moaned about their use of bed linen as backdrops.

This year, thankfully to my eyes, they have reverted to using a more minimal visual approach. I think it better suits the merchandise/brand.

And better still there's a lot to like.

I like the olive poplin suit with the bright check shirt and navy knit tie.I have one of their poplin suits but it's the Japanese fit that's nowhere as nice as the ones shown.

I'm also drawn to the 2 button, darted jacket worn with a chambray shirt and white jeans. I think this shot has had the colours altered as the Chambray appears to be almost cornflower in colour. But I could see myself in something similar.

Over the years I have bought a number of their sports shirts as I find the fit/details superb. It looks like they got quite a few new ones to consider. The black watch seersucker is a bit different.

The cotton sweaters with the sleeve detail also looks good with shorts.

There's a few shots showing jeans/chinos, sockless in Aldens, with a sports jacket that resonate with me.

As a side observation, I think there is clear water between J Press and J Simons visions of Ivy. Press to me look like a traditional menswear store that covers all the bases a gentleman might need whereas J Simons gives you all the things that you didn't know you needed.

Keeping warm on Summer evening listening to some Jazz in  J Press land is a merino crew neck whereas with John Simons it's a linen Vetra chore jacket.

Took a look at the J Press site and noticed their pincord 5 pockets are on clearance. No details about sizing and not much in the way of pictures, could they be comparable to FOB/Kamakura/LVC or just a low rise vanity size disappointment?

Hi Slimmm,

Hope this helps.

I have a pair of the Pennant cream 5 pockets  that I bought last Summer.

Pleased with them.

Not as rigid as FOB Bedford cords or as nice as my LVC trousers but still good for the money.

As I'm sure you know if you're outside the States you get clobbered by high customs/shipping from Press's agent.

Good looking offerings this year.  Esp some of the sweater colors.
