Magee tweed?

Whilst searching for inspiration, I reread the Trad Star article, and read about Magee tweed sacks. Is this a type of tweed, like Harris, or a brand of jacket. I assume it is a fabric supplier, used by Press and others. How does it differ from, say Harris?

The article mentions shaggy dog sweaters in a v-neck merino. Is this a mistake, have they ever been offered in a deep v-neck, or is it just a fuzziness that happens over time to a wool sweater?

Thanks.

Re: Magee tweed?

Magee makes and markets most of Ireland's Donegal production but not all.

Donegal is characterized by flecks of color in the weave and is unique to Ireland. It is not woven in Scotland to the best of my knowledge but Ireland does weave other tweed patterns.

Re: Magee tweed?

I think the Shaggy Dogs are always shetland wool though I did have one from 10 years ago that read made in Ireland.  I bought a Donegal tweed 3 piece suit from J Press this year. The Label reads the real Magee!. Manufactured on the west coast of Ireland for over a hundred years. you can visit the factory store in some town in County Donegal and buy stuff on the real cheap. What was the name of my Dublin tailor? have to think. Oh Kevin and Howlin.
