Hornrimmed glasses

Could anyone recommend a good place to get hornrimmed glasses. I don't need real tortoise shell. Sorry for all the posts I just have lots of questions. Thanks.

^ I can recommend City Optix in San Francisco, whose service I've found exceptional. They have an expert in horn who learned the trade in Germany and is truly a perfectionist in mounting your prescription and adapting the frame to your face. They have a bespoke service for horn rims from the top maker in Germany and carry very exclusive stuff like onono by IC! Berlin.

Anglo-American makes some amazing horn-rimmed frames.

www.shuron.com check out the 'Ronsir' line.  I have a vintage pair in tortoise and a new pair from the website.  Needless to say the vintage ones are better. They're inexpensive, classic looking, and Shuron will ship anywhere in the world via DHL.

Re: Hornrimmed glasses

Chums,

my ol' pals the Prenners at Benjy Silver make many a frame to admire.  Personally, I like the ol' P-3.  No longer are they easy to find.

It seems that Focusers is the only place that still stocks round-shaped rimless frames. I am not planning to invest, but after bearing witness to a colleague who made the move from horn-rims to these frames, I gotta say: they're pretty damned classic. 1920s and 30s-era trad, eh?
