Re: John Lobb Paris Vs Edward Green

Fine examples of Lobb and Green can be purchased here and at reasonable prices, if you can get over second hand shoes:

Green do some fine brogue shoes, but in the main their shoes are pretty and dainty.

Re: John Lobb Paris Vs Edward Green

Some of the shoes are expensive and some of them reasonable. Either way, he has the quality merchandise and the passion.

I bought a pair of NOS Florsheim cordovan longwing Imperials from him and they are ten times better than modern Alden's. In my opinion worth every penny. And if he gets some more, I will instantly purchase as that level of quality can only be procured at great expense bespoke these days. Relatively, they are cheap.

Re: John Lobb Paris Vs Edward Green

on the edward green vs lobb paris debate ..

it really is down to which of the firms last fits your feet best .. edward green lasts are notoriously narrow, if your feet are narrow(ish) then you want to go to lobb.

both are too expensive in my opinion for a RTW shoe and for what you are actually getting, lobb paris being more expensive in general (EG seem to be ~£650 for most models with lobb paris are spread on a range between £650 to £1000). i think they are worth 2/3 of this, their prices seem to have rocketed at a insane rate not reflecting inflation or wage rises in the uk so cant understand it personally.

Re: John Lobb Paris Vs Edward Green

could well be in part due to new found interest on blogs etc and the way that focus seems to be concentrated on a few brands which are fawned over endlessly ..  shoes wise its Edward green, Lobb, Crockett and Jones & clothing wise its Rubinacci, Canali, Boglioli & Slowear Montedoro (both of which make italian bumfreezers in my experience) ..
